Holt McDougal Larson Algebra 1: Practice Workbook

The series of math textbooks by McDougal-Littell are excellent, not to be confused with the "workbooks"! The workbooks are intended for use as examples. As in the photo I provided, someone has to work out the problems in order to assist a student. The text usually provides enough information to figure them out, but not always. Parents can become frustrated in the process. As a high school math teacher for 20 years and now a co-op homeschool teacher, I've seen lots of confusion by parents and students. The worst problem with this workbook is that not only are there no answers worked out, but no answers at all! So accept it for what it is. It's a workbook for a parent to learn and process the problems with their child. Use the textbook to verify the process, but not necessarily to check the answers for accuracy!

My daughter was looking for a workbook to practice extra problems while studying for the Algebra 1 Regents exam. I thought this workbook would give her some extra problems to practice. It turns out that this workbook is only good when used with the accompanying text book. It constantly refers you to the text book. It cannot be used as a standalone workbook. So, for us it was useless.

Very good workbook for my son self practice at home during the summer. This workbook does not show you how to solve the problems like the school textbook. It's just for kids to review what they've learned last year. If you don't have good math skills, don't buy it for your kids. BTW, don't expect to give this book to your kids and you go watch Dr Phil.

The book was billed as being in very good condition with minor wear. I did not anticipate that whole pages would be ripped from the book upon receipt and the outside of the book had sticky residue on it. Pages 58-60 were completely ripped out and missing. Unacceptable for sale should have been the description for this as I am very upset that I paid for this quality.

Arrived fast using Prime and clean , new packaging. Has a number of concepts, I have forgotten over the years like: Direct Variation

I bought thus book after only reading a handful of reviews. There is NOT AN ANSWER KEY! The book overall is good. It is being used for home school. Wish it would have an answer companion.

These books are used by my school district, and I use them as a reference for teaching. What I like about them is they give clear examples and are fairly straightforward and user-friendly, unlike some math texts that are just a jumble of words to read. These have all the important concepts in bold, and in nice neat-looking little green-bordered boxes. And, of course, answers to odd problems in the back. If you are a teacher looking for a reference text or a parent who is home-schooling, I highly recommend this textbook series.~ Mistyteacher & tutor for over 12 years
