The dogs like it very much, it produces a lot of noise.
Iโm rating this based on my dogsโ response to this toy โ they absolutely love it, and it has seen more use without damage than any of their regular throwing toys. At the same time, unless you enjoy, REALLY ENJOY the sound of crunching water bottles, you may not like having this ball in the house. Pros: The rubber outer shell of the ball is durable, and can survive both chewing and pulling forces (as a note, my dogs do not concentrate on chewing - they use it more for play games). Itโs big enough for my dogs to play tug of war with it, hooking their teeth in the mesh, and they since it bounces around if they drop or kick it, it makes the game more interesting than rope. They did crush the interior plastic, but they don't really seem to care. Itโs much more engaging than a normal ball, and can be modified to hold treats, sticks, rope elements and other external bits, which my shepherd mix loves; he gets bored easily and frequently, and this can actually entertain him. Cons: This toy is loud, and produces repetitive crunching sounds. It is apparently really engaging to chew, and my dogs will produce the horrid plastic crackling up to half an hour at a time. If you let your dogs in and out, it would make a fine outdoor toy, but since I have a dog door, it migrates around to pretty much wherever the dogs are. I kind of hate it, but will probably buy another if they break this one since they enjoy it so much.

Very durable and my Heeler's fave inside toy
My red Heeler loves these balls, second only to Tennis balls but she destroys those within minutes and they are outside only. This is her inside ball. She is hard on toys and has the strongest bite of any dog I've had (shepherds, collies, weimaraners, retrievers, Labs) yet these continue to last. She catches the ball, we play tug of war with it (she places it in hand hand and pulls only when I have a firm grip, she shakes it and flings it. The rubber outside even outlasts the water-bottle like plastic piece inside. Steps holds the ball with her foot and pulls on the rubber with her mouth, stretching it to sometimes twice its size. I pull while shes pulling. This thing gets abused daily and keeps on going. Its the most used toy and she brings it to me to play with every day. Each ball lasts about 6 months before the inside ball is toast and the outer rubber is finally starting to tear/break. which for me in an incredibly long time. If this ball is available to play, she wants it over all others. Shes NEVER gotten a piece off to actually swallow and that alone is worth the price.

My dog loves it!
My dog likes to chew on empty water bottles, but as she got bigger and stronger, she started to tear them into pieces. For safety's sake, we had to take away her water bottle privileges. Of course she was very upset, and insisted I find an alternative. When I gave her this ball, she was even more excited than she ever was with her water bottles! The crackling sound was perfect and she went crazy for it. This was her favorite toy for a few days - until she punctured the inner "crackly" ball. After that, it at least didn't pose a choking hazard because all the crackly pieces stayed safely inside the rubber ball, but it just wasn't the same to my pup. She still plays with it every now and then, but isn't nearly as enamored with it as she was at first. My girl is just 6 months old and not a very powerful chewer, so if your dog is an experienced member of the destroyers club, the crackling feature of this ball may last mere minutes. But if they are anything like my pup, they will really enjoy those minutes! Even though the crackling didn't last long for us, I'm still really happy with my purchase. The ball has lasted a while already and seems to be well made.

Great for ball obsessed Belgian!
Durable and my dogs love it. I have 2 very aggressive chewers, one Belgian and one GSD that prefer the crinkle sound over squeaking, and they love this toy! It has held up pretty well too.

No more crackle
The inside โcrackleโ part broke immediately. Still ok for playing with, outside is durable

Nice ball IF your dog is not a "demo" dog
Bought these balls several times and the only reason it is getting three stars instead of five is my corgi crunches the middle apart the first day and the second day, he starts tearing the outside apart.

My American Bully destroys all of her toys but the JW ones last longer than most. She likes the noise this one makes while chewing on it.

These are the best balls ever, my dogs love them. They are tough and dont break easily. They get a tough work out every day and the rubber is still intact. The crunch inside is no longer a ball shape but it still crunches. They are the longest lasting balls I have ever come across. Highly reco mend them.

This ball style has been my Bouv's favorite. I purchase the large one because I don't want any choking hazards. It doesn't take him long to destroy the plastic ball inside the ball. Then the ball becomes a great tossing ball. Gentle on my dogs mouth, they have lasted longer than most balls we've tried. He will amuse himself with the ball and goes to get them to play. He knows he has to bring his toys inside when done playing and they are easy for him to find. He can easily destroy the ball within minutes so if you have a destructive dog this might not be the ball for your dog. However, saying that, if you spend the time to train your dog not to destroy the ball it will last years. How we trained him after he destroyed the first two balls was when we were done playing ball with him, the balls were taken from him and stored out of reach. If while playing ball he started to chew instead of retrieving he was told 'no' and the ball removed before being destroyed. If he continued to play catch without reverting to chewing we kept playing. If he laid down to chew again, we took the ball away until the next game of catch. It didn't take him long to figure out we didn't want him destroying the balls. They are now left in his toy box and he goes and gets them when he wants us to play with him. We've had several through his life,..and I'm ordering more to make sure I have them throughout his life. He isn't perfect he will still chew through one at least once a year or so. We still feel he deserves them and feel we are getting lots of bang for our buck.
