Revell1:25 '68 Dodge Charger 2 'n 1 , Brown

Revell does it again. Great kit, tons of extras...2 engines, 440 and Hemi. 3 set of rims...Steelies, Crager SS and the R/T wheel. They've even thrown in an engine stand!! Good decal sheet with the drag pack stuff and well as factory stock. Lots a small parts. Not for the beginner. It is a level 5 kit.

This is the second Revell kit I've purchased since I decided to get back into building models. My first, a '71 Cuda, had a few issues - nothing major, yet enough to keep the kit from getting a 5 star review. Unfortunately the same holds true here.Most notably was the poor fit of the hood. It just BARELY fits side to side (too loose), but there is an uneven gap at the point furthest from the grill, nearest the windshield. I managed to trim it out and make it look uniform but it isn't right - so much so that even my wife noticed.Quite a lot of trimming needed to be done which I found troublesome. I don't mind a little but when its a little on almost every piece I touch it gets to be a bit excessive.The instructions for the interior tell you to install the 'seat brace' behind the back seat. Too bad they don't tell you to trim the piece PRIOR to trying to glue the back seat in. That got messy. Speaking of seats, the front seats don't seem to have any sort of purchase or "place" to be. It's odd. I managed to get them glued in but it certainly feels like someone forgot something.Several engine parts didn't fit together well at all. The dual carb setup has two 'pegs' that are supposed to fit into corresponding holes in the manifold. Good luck. After practically standing on the piece I was able to get the tips of each peg into the holes but only slightly and as a result the carbs and air cleaner kept falling off anytime I had to handle the motor. Finally, I tried boring out the holes the pegs are supposed to slide into and it helped a bit. I ended up scrapping the 'chrome' off of the pegs themselves before they fit and it was still a fight. There were a few other fit and finish issues much like the ones I've described with the transmission and the rear suspension.All in all, once finished, the kit looked good enough. It looks like a charger - which is the goal, right? I managed to create a sort of hybrid between the race version and the stock version which I'm rather pleased with. Still, in terms of quality, I don't know that I'll be buying many more Revell kits.

Bought this for a commission build. Excellent example of the car, and well detailed. Decals are excellent and there are a ton of extra parts to build race or street versions.
