America Could Be New

Beyond great! This book is an exhaustive, seminal work that places necessary perspective on the founding demigods crafted by the works of (scholars?) others over the last twenty years. To fully grasp the shame and utter mechanization of America's willful mental, physical, social, legal and spiritual stagnancy since President Carter's rallying cry of 1979, or, more to the point, the assassination spree of the 1960's, this book is a must. Within a few pages one will see the trifurcated roots of power, privilege and injustice which then set the stage for the actual [voluminous physical, legal and moral] battles that have taken place for more than two centuries! Taken as intricate observation, this books contains the keys to freeing America from the log jam it has been in from day one.If you are a citizen, educator, or aspiring person, add this book to your library.

EXCELLENT HISTORICAL ACCOUNT

Black history through the White House is an excellent read. It is a detailed account of American politics through the African American experience full of astonishing facts and firsts.

The Black History of the White House

While I am only about a third thru the book, I find it amazing and awesome to read about a history that has been suppressed in my education travails. Schools have given us a wonderful froth of history in this area, but kept irritable areas from its proper place in understanding the early foundation of this country. I cannot wait to finish the book, and in the reading, expand my horizon of understanding, and perhaps, forgiving the enslavement mentality of the nation from its early days, and, more modernly, to our present state of affairs....in all parts of the country. Many thanks to the author for the readable and un-settlling view of our nation's history. Thanks.

Black people in the White House is not a new phenomenon

The scholarly portions of the writing bog the book down just a little, but there are enough stories of real people that come to life and make this history poignant, frightening and in 2013 hopeful that a curtain has been opened on the big stage of US history. Our founding fathers come off more human and foible-prone than we like. Racism is part of the fabric of our country, and it hurts us all. This book trims away some of the categories and gives us a look at real people--black and white--in all of their (and our) complexity. I recommend it to history buffs, political observers, people who are combatting racism and people who care about the US and our humanity.

Well researched and well done

This book proves America's racial issues were based on lies and falsehoods long before any of us were born. All blacks wanted were to be left alone so we can participate in the American dream equally. Yet we were ostracized, stigmatized and brutalized for wanting to live as free human beings. After reading this book, I now understand why race relations haven't moved forward after all these years.

Well written without race baiting

Interesting book. The writer didn't go "anti white" while writing. They really stuck with the facts. THIS an excellent book for high school students. It does not race bait, or race guilt. This was a well written book.

Historical Facts, a really good read, every word.

I received this book at Christmas last year and thought, too big, must be boring. Wrong, I read every word, very facinating. Not a book of condemnation but just facts some sad, some funny, all historical and full of surprises. I am recommending it to most I meet and gave two away already this year, 2016, as Christmas gifts.
