Walkers Shortbread Highland Oat Crackers, 9.9 Ounce Boxes (Count of 4)

If you like dry, crumbly, low salt, low sugar, high fiber, highly nutritious and versatile oat crackers from Scotland, these are for you! They are good with peanut butter, cheese, jam, honey, meats, sweet or savory, as a snack or part of a meal, with a hearty soup or crumbled up in a fruity dessert or with chocolate. Their taste is neutral enough to accompany anything. They will be your "go to" crackers everyday. Their texture is crumbly, not strong enough like bread to be used for a sandwich though. The fact that they are high in fiber and packed with nutrition is just a bonus.

The oat cakes themselves are usually excellent: a nice texture (slightly crumbly, slightly gritty) and pleasant oat flavor. They are sufficiently neutral to go well with cheese or pate, but with an interesting enough flavor that I frequently eat them plain. I say "usually excellent", however, because a couple of times (very rarely I admit, given that I order them regularly) I have received boxes of cakes that tasted somewhat stale, but I can't find an expiration date on the box. I wonder if Amazon is cycling the product correctly (e.g., new boxes to the back as in grocery stores).My other complaint is probably due to Amazon's shipping methods: boxes frequently arrive crushed, with the oat cakes themselves in fragments or even crumbs. I get these via "subscribe and save" and Amazon packs them in a large box with other items, including a pallet of 24 cans of seltzer water! --no wonder they get crushed. I doubt if they come that way from the dealer, and ordered on their own would probably be fine.

Well, probably not. I can't remember if palm oil is OK or VERBOTEN. But here's how it's perfect: oatmeal is so good and nourishing, and it goes with so many other good foods, that it seems the perfect food. One time our dog was hit by a car, late on a Sunday afternoon. We had to rush her to the emergency vet, 45 minutes from our house. We put her in the car, loaded the car with oatcakes and poured some white wine. Yes, we drove while drinking the wine, but we got there, etc., etc., and weren't starving when, hours later we got back home with our poor bandaged-up but surviving dog. Oatcakes are filling as well as delicious. Oatcakes and orange juice seem to be a perfect breakfast, if you're on the road or taking to the air. For a plane trip, take oatcakes, cheese, maybe some thinly sliced ham, grapes, and your drink of choice. And, as the package suggests, you can, for a party, top each biscuit with cream cheese and fruit -- the versatility is remarkable. And: just remember: oatmeal is remarkably nutritious. Just think of all those race horses!

These are really good with cheese, or jam, honey or perhaps best of all, with homemade lemon curd! Yes, they are crisp, very dry and rather crumbly but that is exactly how they should be. I have never been able to find proper Scottish oatcakes in my part of the USA so it was a thrill to be able to get these through Amazon. I was impressed by how fresh they tasted and that they arrived intact. I now have them on my Subscribe and Save list.I just wish we could also get the thicker style oatcake bannocks (about 1/4 inch thick and generally shaped in farls (a farl is a quarter round) from Amazon!

We've been buying Walker's Oatcakes for decades. (Both my parents are from Scotland)And we've bought them before from Amazon and they've been fine.But the oatcakes in this last batch of four boxes were all extremely crumbly and fragile. You basically couldn't pick them (never mind put something on them) without their breaking into small fragments. I hope it was just a bad batch or that they were transported improperly (maybe got frozen?) and that future purchases will be back to the usual quality.

I have loved these Walkers Shortbread Highland Oat Crackers ever since I discovered them in Canada. (more than a few decades ago.) They are just right for a small snack, and filling enough that one will help get you through the afternoon.They come straight from the U.K., and I find that the shipping estimates are always way out from when I actually receive them. This company also stands behind any problems due to damage in shipping, and are strictly A+, in quality and service. I hope to enjoy them for many years to come.

My Dad loves Walkers' Oatcakes, something he started eating because health reasons meant he needed to cut back on Salt and sugar. I've grown to love them, too. We eat them plain, with our afternoon tea, but they're also good with a bit of butter and some jam. A few years ago, they stopped being easily found in stores in either the GTA or Ottawa, so I resorted to ordering them for him from Amazon. Accept no substitutes! Usually it takes much less time to arrive than the month given when ordering, though other times that's accurate.

Seit unserem letztjährigen Schottland-Urlaub liebe ich diese Oatcakes. Und es sind die Originale. Sie dienen mir sehr häufig als Energielieferant auf Wanderungen, MTB-Touren u.ä. Man sie aber auch super als kleine Snacks mit Butte, Käse etc. belegen und sie schmecken ganz wunderbar. Absolute Empfehlung!

These crackers form a regular part of my diet, although some might find them "tasteless" because of their lack of salt and sugar (something that is over-used in today's diets IMHO). I enjoy them for that very reason.I would definitely recommend them to individuals looking to include some fibre in their diets.

My husband eats two Highland Oatcakes with his afternoon tea every single day.
