Weeknight Baking: Recipes to Fit Your Schedule

These are basic recipes, nothing you can’t find googling. There’s a basic chocolate chip cookie recipe, basic brownies, pound cake, banana bread etc.Maybe this is good for someone with zero baking experience, but if you’re looking for exciting creative takes on baking classics, this is not your book. Would not waste the 30$. I’m really sorry I did!

My favorite thing about this book is the organization. I'm good at baking but sometimes I feel like I'm more disorganized than I should be because of how the recipe is laid out. Maybe it's just my bad for not fully reading ahead, but this book tells you up front what you're in for. Ever get 5 steps in before you realize you need some crazy fancy cooking tool no one has just lying around? Lopez tells you all that stuff: how long the prep is, and whether there are any weird tools/ingredients. I love that there are also variations on a theme. Sure there is basic chocolate chip cookie recipe, but there are also a bunch of variations on mix-ins and ideas.I've made a ton of stuff in a short amount of time, and FWIW I have a FT job and a baby at home so if I can do it, you can too!The Better Than Supernatural Brownies got RAVE reviews when I made for friends and coworkers. Also a fan of the yellow cake, and the blondies!

I love recipes that give you the “why” and offer guidance on the details that make a particular recipe work. This gives you the info you need to determine where you can experiment, and what steps are critical to the outcome. Weeknight Baking does an amazing job of condensing years of experience and baking know-how into streamlined recipes and valuable tips that can make you more confident in the kitchen.I love that Michelle breaks down the timeline of her recipes so that you can actually make baking an approachable task instead of a daunting project that you only save for special occasions. I have loved the recipes that I’ve tried so far and can’t wait to keep experimenting. My favorite recipe so far has been the Creme Fraiche Scones... which is a little surprising to even me but they are unlike any other scone I’d ever tried☺️Not only are the recipes great, the images are stunning and the overall design is super cute. This is an inspiring book that’s a welcome addition to my recipe collection!

I've truly loved everything I've baked out of this book so far (and so have my roommates). These are not unique or never-before-seen recipes, but the real value lies in a) the quality of the recipes and b) the flexibility built into them to match YOUR schedule. Sure, you can google any number of online recipes for most of these items, but most of them assume this is all you're going to be doing that day, especially as you start to get into more complex recipes. Michelle's book not only breaks complicated recipes down into multiple days, she also tells you which substitutions will work in a pinch and which won't. The first recipe I made was the magic dream lemon cream tart. It's a hefty one, and I had enough time to tackle it in one night, but I can't stress enough how helpful the breakdown into multiple days was to make the whole thing SO much more approachable and give me well-defined "break points". And have I mentioned that the final result was truly a magical dream? One of my favorite bakes ever, and immediately surpassed any other lemon tarts or bars I'd made previously. The pumpkin pie recipe was an absolute hit at Thanksgiving- even friends who aren't pumpkin pie fans loved it! And the pie crust recipe is definitely my new standby- no other one has given me as consistent results as this one! I could go on and on...I keep coming back to this over and over and have never been disappointed- can't recommend highly enough for baking enthusiasts who have trouble fitting in time for larger projects.

Love how informative this baking book is! I am a very novice baker and it's so useful to have a list of utensils, pantry staples, and substitutions handy before Michelle dives into the amazing looking recipes. Can't wait to bake my way through her book!

This cookbook has definitely changed the way I bake now. It makes baking much more easier to do during the weekdays because of the steps you do in advance. It makes baking during the weekday less about work and more about fun. It definitely has brought more joy to my week nights. So many different recipes and I love how there are so many variations to just one simple recipe. This cookbook is kept on my kitchen counter at all times.

I love this cook/baking book. It’s fun, foolproof, easy to follow and one of my favorite new cookbooks. ♥️ Michelle has done an amazing job and new and seasoned bakers will love it.

I love the concept of this. I’m never much a baking person since most bake goods can be super time consuming. Now with the effort of breaking down the steps and preparing small different things over a few days... everything seems much more manageable! 100% recommend :)

I pre-ordered this book months ago & was delighted to finally get my hands on it last week. It' a wonderful cookbook, with boundless information to help out even the most inexperienced bakers out there. I've been a follower of Michelle's blog for years, and this book feels like an extension of that. I've already baked two different things from the book: the brown sugar peanut butter cake with chocolate fudge frosting, and the overnight cinnamon rolls. Both of which were delicious and extremely easy to make when following Michelle's easy time frames provided. I was able to make the 3-layered peanut butter cake over a series of days after work & the whole experience was rather enjoyable. The cinnamon rolls, which I made just this morning, were so pillow-ey and mouthwatering that I felt I had to come on here and leave this review. I literally couldn't love this book more!! Will definitely be buying a couple for Christmas gifting!

I am giving this an average rating for what are average recipes. I enjoy buying blogger's cookbooks because I find them inspired, providing new and tempting recipes. I didn't find these recipes inspired at all. The first 50 pages were just chat and instruction about baking, pantry items, etc. There are random pages throughout the book that discuss ingredient items like the page on "bananas". If you are a beginner, you may enjoy this book as it has many basic recipes like yellow cake, chocolate cake, banana bread, pumpkin pie, etc. I've been baking for years and have my "go to" recipes for all of these standard goodies making much of this book redundant.The interesting thing is that Ms. Lopez often begins with the basic recipe, then gives 3-4 options at the end on how to customize it and make it different and more unique. Funnily enough, should she have made these options the main recipes with a basic offering at the end, the book would have piqued my interest more and I may not have returned it!

This cookbook is like a baking encyclopedia!So many educational tips and tricks, do’s and Don’ts.... really impressed! I’ve made one of her recipes so far and the muffins turned out perfectly. Highly recommend!
