Works perfectly for my standup desk—and comfortable too!
I received my new drafting chair yesterday and it's the perfect height and very comfortable. I'm 5'8" and about 140, and the cushioned barstool I was using as a chair at my stand up desk was painful... my legs sometimes fell asleep after sitting in it for 30 minutes. This drafting chair, by contrast, is LUXURY. It's cushy, and the back and foot support keep me from slouching at the desk. I love that it has casters, but it will take some getting used to as it rolls very easily in my studio, which has wood flooring. The first time I got into the chair, I wasn't holding onto my desk to keep from rolling. So I bumped into the wall.It was packed well and there were no broken parts. The chair base, support structure, footrest, and backrest support bar are all made with a heavy gauge metal. The backrest support bar has a plastic covering on over it. I was impressed at how well made it was. The plastic that covers the portion that connects the legs and the gas piston is thin plastic. And whoever put that on the legs at the manufacturer didn't snap them together well. But I was able to do it myself and it looks fine. I read a review that said this was broken on someone else's shipment. Mine wasn't. It just wasn't snapped together well. I don't see a problem with it coming apart in the future. It's a snug connection that just required a little effort. It was also easy to put together. My 9-year-old son, who loves LEGOS was eager to help me and he did so with ease. The instructions were straight forward illustrations.., except the perspective on the back support was off so it was confused us for a few minutes. But we figured it out eventually. Sidenote: ALL companies could take a lesson from LEGO on how to design instruction guides that are so simple kids could put things together. ;)The cushion is very thick. The back is springy. The chair is bigger than I expected but still works well in my tiny studio. The one minor complaint I have is that the color of the chair looks dirty gray/tan. Not the light tan leather looking fabric that I saw in the Amazon image. I know the difference between screen color and actual color...but this was a bit too off and might be an issue for others. No worries, though. I'm a graphic designer and I planned on painting the cushions with vinyl fabric spray if the color didn't work in my studio. I've done it before. It's a bit more work, but I am a stickler for color harmony. :)I will update this review, if I can, in the future to let you know if the gas piston holds up. The chair comes with a 30-day warranty which was unexpected. I hope I don't have to use it.Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and if this one holds up, I'm planning to buy more chairs from BOSS. One for my voiceover booth, and one for a sitdown desk. My son has even requested a chair for his homework desk.

The Best Chair Ever! Saved my knees!!
Great chair! It exceeds my wildest hopes. Wow! So comfortable, nice, thick seat cushion and comfortable back. This chair is so sturdy. I love the way I can adjust it to the perfect height, and the foot rest is so comfortable. It rolls around easily. I ordered this to use in the kitchen because I have bad knees after teaching school for 40 years. Standing & cooking just kills my knees and hurts my back, too. With this wonderful chair, I can now cook in perfect comfort, wash and prep food at the kitchen sink and scoot around my kitchen with ease. This chair has saved me so much pain and has restored my mobility in the kitchen. Last night, I cooked my husband's favorite dinner without having to call on him for help. He was delightfully surprised. A big THANK YOU to this wonderful company and to all those who rated this chair!! The height is adjustable and I keep it on its lowest height. Sometimes I put my left foot on the floor, and put the chair up against the kitchen cabinet when I first get on the chair. To move around the kitchen, I hold on to the kitchen counter tops and oven door, etc. The wheels glide so easily, that it's a breeze to move around. Saved us thousands of dollars in not having to have my kitchen converted to a handicap kitchen! I think this chair would be very comfortable for people who work at drafting tables, too. Baby Boomers, this is for you!

Great chair and great value. I use it to take breaks at my standing desk.
I'm very happy with this chair. I use it with my standing desk (which does not easily adjust height). I have adjusted this so when I sit in it, I am the same height as when I stand and it works perfectly. Great for spelling me out when standing is getting exhausting.I can't believe how simple assembly was. Basically you just stack these pieces, like four screws, and you are done. Super easy and well designed. The seat is very thick and plenty firm and it's nice to have the bar at the bottom to rest my feet on. I don't tend to lean against the backrest. I like the material from which this is made as well. Overall a very nice little chair. I got the beige one because it was a few bucks cheaper than the already very reasonable price---wasn't sure it would work out to alternate between standing and sitting.Anyway, there's a reason this is the best selling chair in this category: it's a really good one at a good price.

Great chair, beige is darker than I thought it would be.
I would have given this a 5 star rating except the makers did not take into account the extra seat padding height when designing their back, so instead of it giving a person support in the lumbar region, it is shorter and hits at the top of the hips and lower back making it a bit uncomfortable to relax backward after being bent forward for extended lengths of time. I love that it can go up so far and one can still step up on the foot ring without it tipping over!! I have an antique drafting table that I now use as a study desk so this is just right and I am able to adjust the chair's height easily. It is very easy to put together, only needs a Philips-screwdriver. The rolling-caster wheels roll smoothly even when I am sitting on it. The recommended weight limit is 250 lbs. I think they could do with less foam in the seat since it is a firm foam. I am tossing around the idea of taking it apart and reducing the height of the foam so the back will be much more comfortable but will give it some time to get broken in and then make that decision. I highly recommend this chair.

Instructions!
The instructions I got, were for the regular version vs the foot-ring variety. That extra tube goes into the spider, and the ring goes over it then the gas-spring and the rest on that. Its quite tall, I am impressed by the fit and finish, however time will tell. Add a set of nice wheels for this and it'll probably be the chair I've always wanted but didn't know I needed until I had it.
