ChesapeakeSeagrass 5-foot by 7-foot Area Rug, Sage

This is one of those things I never would have purchased if I could have touched it in a store first.The strands in the body of the mat are quite coarse, more than I expected based on the photos. It's not that the listing is misleading -- I just wasn't expecting the mat to feel like a rhinoceros's washcloth. This isn't terrible by itself, but the problem is that *they break* -- many of them upon first unrolling the mat. It's rolled very tightly for shipping and has to be aggressively bent back to make it lie even sorta-flat. Doing this snaps some of the strands and the broken ends protrude uncomfortably if you step on it with bare or sock-feet. The strands are so thick and stiff, you can actually see where they are straining against the edging fabric, which feels quite thin and seems a risk for developing holes.The rubbery coating on the backside of the mat is also no match for those coarse fibers. Upon receipt my backing was already torn in several places from the jagged edges of strands behind it, and by the time I got the thing rolled out, there were a few more cuts.I returned mine within 10 minutes of putting it on the floor, since I doubt it would last even 6 months before I'd find myself walking on a pincushion and picking up shreds of the rubber backing constantly. If durability is important to you avoid this product -- but if you need a quick or temporary fix that doesn't cost much, it's a great fix.

Buy something with better quality fabric trim. We have an iRobot and when it goes over the trim, the trim is so loose, it gets stuck in the rollers and tears. This also tears if you have pets.. it is NOT durable. They are very pretty but cheaply made

Bought for an outdoor space and so far i love it. Nice texture and great construction. It’s real sea grass so it does have a bit of a straw smell right out of the box but it went away quickly being aired out. Hoping it holds up since it’s on a covered patio and is easy to clean since we have kids and pets. It really makes the space feel cohesive and was exactly what i was looking for at a great price.**UPDATE: after less than 7 weeks the black border around the rug is sun bleached and is now a medium to light brown. The sea grass itself has held up well and i don’t have any of the weird smell or mildew issues some other reviews have mentioned. I would still recommend buying this item but be aware that it is not going to hold its crisp color if you put it in the sun so i would recommend a shady spot. **

Rug looks nice and is as pictured/expected. Delivers quickly and for a good price. With a 5x7 size I don’t love that I’m supposed to shake it out to clean as opposed to vacuum and it isn’t particularly soft/comfy but I expected that. It looks good and the only quality issue I saw was some loose threads on the black edge binding that I snipped off. Hopefully it holds up. If so, it’s a good value for the price.

I love this rug, but had the impression that it could be used outside. I put it on my back porch, and it quickly mildewed. I was able to clean it pretty well with my power washer, but definitely should be used indoors. In humid climates anyway. Beautiful rug!

Bought these rugs as a scratch pad for my cats (they aren't interested) but I love the way they look by my doors--neutral yet noticable. They catch and hold dirt well keeping it from getting tracked thought the house. As well they are easy to shake out and they don't slip around on the hardwood. Cleaning them hasn't been an issue--one of my cats threw up on one. I simply ran it under water and scrubbed the area of concern then let it dry, no stain or issues!

Love this rug! Simply can not beat the price for the quality. We have had it at the busy entrance to our home for over two months and its just like new. The rubber backing is sturdy and rug sticks to its spot and doesnt move (unless the great dane does his happy dance on this rug and occasionally kicks it up). The cat attempts to scratch it but the rug looks unfazed. Snow, mud and salt havent changed the color of the boarder or the sea-grass. I am super pleased and will be buying as many of these rugs as possible!***UPDATEWe had this rug in the entrance of our house for 4 years (see picture). Eventually our toddler spilled red cool aid on for the 3rd time so we moved it out onto our covered patio. The rug survived outside for another 1 1/2 year in Colorado. We moved across the country and left it behind because it was looking a little rough from us frequently tracking thick dirty snow + spring mud all over it. I’m here to buy a new one for my new home.

A nice mat overall for the price but edging was a fair bit more faded looking then the online pictures that’s what I gave it only 4 stars

I am using the under my desk and chair in home office. Does the job nicely. There are places where the jute ends protrude from the rug but you get used this one minor flaw but cannot fault for the price paid.

Great carpet for the value good size and it’s actually a olive green border perfect in a cottage

Love this rug! I have it in my office and the office chairs roll well on it. Gives a bit more of a designer look rather than utilitarian mats. Vacuums well as well. Got it for quite a bit less on Amazon rather than buying elsewhere. Smelled a bit strange for a couple of weeks - no biggie - that's gone now.

Great rug. Looks good. Summery. Needs no under padding on hardwood floors. I like the feel on my bare feet. My cat has not been. Tempted to sharpen his claws on it.
