Case Logic PNM-217 17-Inch Laptop Messenger Bag (Black)

I needed a messenger bag that I can use while traveling that's not too bulky. I have a Sony VAIO 14" Widescreen laptop so most bags are too big for it. It's either that or they're too pricey. This one seemed a good balance between affordability and function so I took a chance and bought it.Here are my observations, so far:1. Will it fit? The answer is, yes. It fit my laptop with it's neoprene sleeve perfectly. This is a plus because the padding is not so thick and I'd feel better with extra padding for my laptop. I also have to take my laptop out of the bag at check-in and it would be safer with a sleeve on than without.2. Does it have room for peripherals? Yes, it does. I can put my power brick, spare battery, external hard drive, a camera, chargers, cables, and USB cords for my peripherals. It can hold all that and not look like I'm carrying around a duffel bag.3. Does it look nice? I quite like it. The black body of the bag is not a dirt magnet, which I like. Green is one of my favorite colors so I appreciate the lima green zipper pulls and accents, too. The shoulder strap is just right for me but I'm only 5'2" so it would probably be too short for a person that's tall or of average height.4. Is it sturdy? I think so. It looks well made and the materials are of good quality. I'm sure there are other bags out there made of better quality materials but for $29, this is a pretty good deal.So, based on the answered questions above I am very satisfied with this bag. I've used it regularly at work and on 4 round-trip flights so far, and it's still good for me.

I bought this Case Logic 13-14" case for my laptop, based on the reviews on Amazon.com.It is a very snug fit - but it does work, and I don't want to carry unnecessary size and weight around, so it's perfect for my purposes, appears to be super-strong, attractive and well made. But it has one strange quirk. The padding for the handle is only available when the handle is reduced to "brief case handle" size. When you extend the strap for shoulder use - when the padding would be most welcome - it won't budge from the "brief case" position, making it essentially useless.(See change, below.)I have written to customer service and they promised to reply, but haven't. (What's new?)Either the bag is poorly designed or mine is wrongly assembled in manufacturing.Except for this strange quirk, it's a gorgeous bag, offers solid protection for my laptop and is exactly what I want. Checking the other manufacturers it looks as if Case Logic makes the best products, and this case would bear that out. I'll seek Case Logic for my next bag purchases in spite of the handle quirk.CHANGE OF REVIEW: I discovered that I could, with some effort, slip the buckle through the shoulder strap so that it works on the extended strap as it should. I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out. With this change, I rate it tops. Slim, light, sturdy, attractive, good value. Be sure you measure. Not one bit over 14" max.

I had a Case Logic laptop case I bought from Amazon a few years back. After a year or so, the zipper got messed up. I wrote an email to Case Logic, who informed me of their lifetime warranty. WHAT? SERIOUSLY? LIFETIME WARRANTY? Surely you must be joking. I sent them a pic and they replaced it pronto. Ever since that interaction, I'm a lifetime fan of Case Logic. They get it.This case is real nice. Sturdy in construction as far as I can tell. The top handle could be a little wider, but the zippers and padding are quite well constructed. I dig it. It holds a lot of crap and I always carry a fair amount of it. It could be made to hold more crap, but I'm trying to limit the amount of it that I carry so it's ok.

I'll write my review detailing the things that I like and I didn't of it.PROS:- It's has all the zippers or covered with green rubber or with a nylon handle making it more elaborated- The compartment for the laptop is easy to reach because it's separated from the other compartments and it has it's own zipper- The brand Case Logic is a plus because they usually made good products- It's light weight- It have a lot of compartmentsCONS:- In the pictures the bag looked more solid but when I received i realized that it was made of a very thin synthetic nylon- Despite of having a lot of compartments, most of them are really tiny making them unusable for real life- The power cord compartment isn't big enough so my ASUS Power cord didn't fit well- The top strap is very thing and it only have one not two to make it more robust to carry- It doesn't count with a hard compartment for letter-sized folders so if you need to store folder may it be you'll have to do it in the laptop compartment risking to fold the papersFor the price I think it's a good bag but it could have less features and more quality on the remaining ones.

Fits a 17.3" laptop perfectly, the padding is very reassuring, the other inner compartments leave plenty of room to hold an equally sized laptop cooling pad, an external 2.5in harddrive, a BUNCH of misc usb cables, mouse pad, large gaming mouse, a power cable with a half-brick sized adapter thing on it, and a 3-plug wall socket surge protector. It CAN fit a bit more, but after all that, it kindof balloons out. By the time I'm done loading up all my stuff in it, it weighs about 10lbs and is a solid 6in thick. With all that weight, the shoulder pad could be a little bit thicker (the handle padding is perfect though), and the rectangular things that attach the shoulder strap to the case could hold their orientation better (even though they're plastic, they do their job well, no cracks or anything even after months of multiple business trips), but overall, a fantastic case well worth the price

This is a nice lightweight laptop bag. I've owned it for several months now and have no complaints. My 17-inch mobile workstation laptop fits perfectly.
