TYCCabin Air Filter Compatible with 2002-2006 Mini Mini Cooper

I recently picked up a mini cooper at auction and have been doing catch up maintenance before diving in to the head gasket. The attached photo is of the old filter I pulled out of the car. That mess was in the dash. The new one is charcoal.Great product, great price, fit perfectly and shipping was really fast. Will buy from again since this is something that should be done every year or so.

This was installed in a 2006 Mini Cooper S R53 in about 20 minutes. It required a little bending and prodding, as it's a "serpentine" fit and there's not a lot of room in the foot well, but it does fit without modification. Just be patient and, as other have commented, make sure you route it within the "track." The maintenance notes show that the last cabin filter on this Mini was installed 9 years ago and there was a significant increase in air volume after installing this new filter ;).

I got this for our 2006 Mini Cooper S. First, this IS the correct cabin air filter. It was designed to replace the original Mini filter and to slide into the grooves on either side of the filter housing. However...the manufacturer either needs to work on their tolerances, or they need to take another look at their specs. The overall width of this replacement filter was about 2 millimeters wider than the original. This doesn't sound like much, but when the original was already a tight fit and a bit of a pain to slide in and out, another 2mm and friction make it *impossible*.You can see the difference between the original and this replacement in the picture (original is on top, aligned on one side). I didn't want to try putting some kind of grease on the rails of the filter, so I sanded them down until I could slide the filter in the housing all the way. I don't have a disc or belt sander, so I ended up using my angle grinder with a 220 grit flap disc and just took 2mm off one side. This is a huge pain in the @#$ and would make the filter unusable for many people.Otherwise, after I modified it and got it installed, it's perfect.

I got this for my heavily autocross-modified supercharged 2003 Mini Cooper S. I didn't install it right away, but ended up running over something that dropped off the back of a pickup truck in heavy traffic, where I couldn't dodge it. It did major undercarriage damage to the car and the insurance company declared the car totaled. I got the company's book value for the car after pulling the competition radiator, coil-over springs & several other competition mods and replacing them with the originals - the coil-overs were worth more than the entire official write-off value) and am shopping for a replacement - a 1988 through 91 E-30 BMW M-3 like the ones I used to race, if anybody knows of one for sale. Even though I was a week beyond the money-back period, the company was understanding and generous enough to accept a return for full value. It looked excellent in it's packing and better than the stock one. Be nice and pay them back for being good guys by getting one.

2005 mini cooper s. it took me 3 minutes to take out old one and install. Then I read the instructions took me one minute: apparently there is an arrow and an air flow direction. I looked at the old one and it was not in that direction. So it took me another 3 minutes to take the new one back out to review the directionality and turn the new one around following the directions. The old one was in backwards which is why it wasn't working very effectively. It was actually easier to put it in backwards then it was to put it in the right way. Of course, I contemplated whether the instructions were wrong and the previous installer knew better but if all else fails follow the directions. Who knew there was so much I didn't know about which direction air flowed and the particularity of an air filter. Works like a charm now. Cleaner air now and better flow.p.s. The guy complaining about the new filter being dirty...too funny. That black stuff all over your hands is a good thing; carbon filter.

Good replacement for our 2002 mini cooper. Our only issue was the directions with the filter differ from what online users are recommending for install. The direction state the arrows on the filter face one direction while online mini owners are saying the face the opposite direction. My husband installed using the filter directions but its is a little disheartening seeing conflicting information.

Installed in my.2002 mini cooper s. Easy to install just like the original. This is also carbon activated to help with those other nasty outdoor odors. I didn't have an issue with this filter as some others have stated theirs had snapped from bending it while installing.I do recommend watching it while installing it in the grooves when sliding it into its holder in the dash. It can get jammed. Take your time and it will be fine. Recommended.

Very low quality plastic frame. Arrived super dirty. There was black plastic dust all over it. Got super dirty hands while installing it. Will leave it in for now, but would not buy again or recommend to anyone.

Great price, but you will have to trim down the front and back lip of the filter to get it in. Installed on a 2005 Mini Cooper.

Great price, fast shipping. Fits perfectly on a 2006 Cooper S…but Very snug to install…needs a little finessing to fit perfectly.Would/will buy again.

Fit Mini Cooper R50 2007. Was a struggle to get in but it did. Needs some fine tuning to make it go in easier. Hopefully it is doing its job. Fast free shipping so ok for that.Has charcoal in it as powder residue was apparent loose in protective clear packaging.
