Goya Foods Pardina Lentils, Dry, 16 Ounce (Pack of 24)

A case of Goya Pardina lentils got me through an unexpected shortage of regular lentils. Pardina lentils taste about the same as the more common lentils in US grocery stores. These are the reasons I give this product as high a rating as three stars. I am grateful that these lentils filled in during a shortage.The "Helpful Hint" text on the bag gives a hint of the problem that I, at least, experienced. Unless you throw caution to the wind or have a love-hate relationship with your teeth, you may pick through your lentils as carefully as I do, looking for various types of debris. Picking through 24 bags of these lentils, I found an uncommonly large number of rocks some of which are surprisingly large. Smaller rocks are the greater threat but these bigger rocks were attention getters. There is other debris and much of it I cannot identify. To me, this is puzzling. For years I ate Progresso lentil soup and never came across a rock or any other foreign matter. Why it is, then, that dry lentils cannot be picked equally clean by companies is a mystery to me. Your judgment should prevail but for me this was a real problem and it seems worth noting. I just finished the Pardina lentils and yesterday I went back to the usual kind, also by Goya, with a feeling of relief. (I have not found what regular lentils are called - non-Pardina?) This change back reminded me that Pardina lentils are much harder to pick through mostly because of their small size.It is on the level of personal opinion but it seems to me Pardina lentils may be responsible for staining my teeth. I could not prove it, I could be wrong, and I may learn more now that regular lentils are back in stock. This, though, is what I am thinking at the moment.So, it is good that I had some lentils to eat at a time of an outage. Now that regular lentils are once again available, I am sticking with them.

I bought this product to protect my family from starvation. A world wide food shortage is looming on the horizon. There will be no surplus crops or international shipping of foodstuff this coming fall.

The part of the product that arrived was great. But half my order was missing.

Thought the description was wrong. I had to be. But, sure enough, 24lbs of lentils arrived. Tasty and cooked well in my rice cooker.

Great taste and very fine textured beans.
