Does it have a quick release mechanism? In other words, releases the hair without having to back out the wand and/or pull on it?
hot to touch while styling?
Does it dry your hair like a blow dryer? I tried a hot air brush that said that it dried your hair but it took almost an hour to dry. I don't have that much time.
Does it have a cool shot to set the curls?

Wonderful Styling Tool...

When the brush attachment on my more than 10-year old Conair Hot Air Brush began to disintigrate, I looked to see what new model Conair had available. The Conair Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush incorporated the newer ceramic and ionic technologies while still retaining the desirable features of its predacessor. After determining that replacing the brushes would cost more than a new Conair Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush from Amazon, I decided to purchase an entire new unit. Amazon's price is far and away the best on the web and beats local retailers by at least $10.The Conair Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush is ideal for finishing many hairstyles. While its 1000 watt power makes it impractical as one's only drying tool for longer hair, it does a fine job on shorter, cropped styles. As someone with chin-length hair, I find my Infiniti by Conair SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler provides the power I need to do the initial drying phase of my style. However, my hair is somewhat boxed in the back and has a tendency to flip upward no matter what I do. The brush on the Infiniti by Conair SD8 Tourmaline Ceramic Styler has proven to be a bit large to handle my hair's length in the back in styling the turn-under. The Conair Hot Air Brush, on the other hand, is just what I needed for producing a lovely, slightly turned under curve. It is compact enough to handle the finish work on the rest of my hair without a problem. This allows me to get a nice straight look without subjecting my hair, on a daily basis, to the intense heat of a flat iron. The new ceramic and ionic features do impart additional shine to my hair and seem to cut down on the fly-away strays I have. The brush has not burned my hair which I color about every four weeks using Clairol's Natural Instincts. The diameter of this hot air brush's handle portion has been reduced a bit from its former iterations. I have small hands and have no problems holding or manipulating the brush. This is particularly important as I am dealing with a non-functional left-hand and must be able to style my hair with only one hand. The tools are fairly easy to put on and remove, even with one hand; this may be because Conair is still using the same system that was used on my older Conair hot air brush. The on-off switch operates smoothly and is much easier to move than the switch on my older model. The Conair Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush is easy to pack for travel as the pieces are sufficiently compact so the fit into the "dead spaces" between clothing and other necessities packed in your carryon or checked baggage. You will not regret purchasing the Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush - it is quite functional and does an excellent job as a styling tool. I fully expect it will be as long lasting as my last Conair hot air brush.

Perfect style

This works exactly like I needed!! I had shoulder replacement and couldn’t use one of my arms so this made it possible for me to be independent and able to do my hair

Lightweight and easy to use!

I love this dryer. It's lightweight and easy to use. I could wish it had a little more variety in controls, there is only high speed or low speed, no choice in heat. But I find that it does a good job with my hair. I'm 72, with a decent amount of hair, I recently had a perm and was looking for something that would accentuate my styling, not blow it away. This dryer is perfect for that. I originally bought it for the rollers but I use the dryer, with the diffuser more often. The barrels are a little big for my taste but the smaller one does a decent job now that my permanent is starting to soften. I would definitely recommend this product.

Not Thrilled with this Hot Air Brush

I've been using this hot air brush for about a week, but I'm not really happy with it. It heats up way too hot, even on the lowest setting. The barrel is difficult to hold onto because it is large -- larger than my previous Conair hot air brush. The heat setting switch slides very easily, and I keep accidentally switching from low to high heat while I am styling my hair. Finally, I keep bumping into the button that releases the brush. The brush actually came off in my hair once during styling. I suppose it just takes some time to get used to this hot air brush, but right now, I don't like it.

Just bought my second one - but it's junk - UPDATE REVIEW

First let me say I have straight hair so use a brush dryer to smooth out my hair and give a little curl at the end. I'm not trying to create big curls.I've used brush dryers for years. I think this is my third or fourth one. I just bought the Conair BC171 to replace a similar (non Ionic) version that has been a workhorse for years. I think I had my other one at least 5 years - maybe longer. It's still working but the bristles have seen better days. After years of very faithful service, it needed replacing. When I knew i had to replace my old one, I first bought another Conair at Target. But it had NO POWER. It was about like having someone blow on your hair. I returned it. Then, I bought a similar looking Revlon dryer. But it allows most of the hot air to blow out at the bottom of the brush attachment with very little air to actually style/dry your hair. Then the attachment quit staying in place and would come out in my hand. So, another brush dryer returned. At this point, I'm seriously hoping I can find a Conair like the one I had. Searched Amazon and boom - there it is. I'm so thrilled. This one is just the right size barrel - it allows you to kinda grab your hair and style it. It has plenty of power to get the job done. And I really like the combo plastic and bristle brush attachment. For me, it works the best.I'm not big on leaving loooong product reviews but i figure there are other women out there frustrated just like I was.UPDATING MY REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!I stand by my review above for the OLD version of this brush dryer. That one is still running - sounds like it has a furball but still running just fine.I bought the new version and it seemed just fine. I went on business travel and packed my Conair brush dryer. Well, a TSA agent took it apart to search for drugs I guess, and it broke. The brush part no longer held in place. I was so angry - &*(^%#$ TSA - ripping it in half!!!!So, I ordered 2 more - an extra one just in case of another bad TSA agent. One day I'm drying my hair, and the plastic makes a popping sound - brush part will no longer stay in place. Whaaatt????? Yep - just broke. So, I open my third one. It breaks in the same spot as the other two - right next to the on/off button. I might have used it a few months. Sweet merciful CRAP!Hey Conair - don't fix it if it ain't broke!!!!!!!
