is there much difference between this and the same model "Plus"?
Does it break down for storage, or do you need a 17 inch high space?
Can it shred baby carrots?
How high is the machine & bowl together without the lid? Can the lid invert into the bowl when not using? (18" is too too high for my counter.)

Outstanding Food Processor

I got it to replace a 9 year old Cuisinart after the work bowl locking mechanism finally gave up the ghost. Though the machine did its job (or so I thought), the work bowl and lid were flimsy and broke if you looked at it wrong. I re-glued the locking mechanism back together numerous times. It was also difficult to clean. To replace the crappy work bowl and lid was $110. Nope.I settled on the Breville based on my satisfaction with other Breville appliances I have and on reviews online and on UTube. It does not disappoint: Fast, quiet (relatively), and the blades are sharp as blue blazes. Bowl is much sturdier than the Quisinart and the locking mechanism is much less sensitive and easy to use. I’ve done Oreo cookie crust, sliced potatoes, chopped onions, garlic, tomatoes, and cilantro for salsa. Cilantro was perfect. Cut, not bruised.Worth the investment for sure!

Sweet piece of equipment, worth the extra $$

This is one sweet piece of equipment. The Breville company designers must be people who actually use the devices they sell, because they are designed and built so well. This my 3rd food processor (the first was a KitchenAid, the second a Cuisineart). I received my new Breville yesterday, and so far, I have only done two things with it: I made a batch of hummus, and I made a batch of frozen banana-cherry "nice cream." Both came out perfectly! Here are my observations:The Breville motor has more power than my earlier models, and effortlessly processes stuff, and is fast! The Breville electrical plugs are the BEST. They have a ring to hook your finger in to plug/unplug. It also retracts up into the base for storage. Now, most people would not think too much about power cord plugs, but this just gives you an idea of the attention to detail paid by Breville product designers. The plastic bowl and lid are made of much heavier plastic than my earlier models and seems very durable. It has easy to see/read volume markings on the side. It attached to the base smoothly and securely. As a plus, it was the easiest to clean of any other food processor bowl/top that I have used; no little crevices or notches to trap food particles. The S-blade, which I use the most, was very sharp. It wa also very easy to clean, and did not trap food inside the blade handle like my Cuisinart did (which was very difficult to clean). NOTE: Read your instruction manual!!! Unlike other food processors, the S-blade must be used with the spindle. There is also a nifty little storage tray to safely store the S-blade.The slicing blade looks well designed. Although I have not used it yet, and it is a feature I rarely use, I like the fact it can be adjusted to several thicknesses, including a closed position to make it safer to wash. I'm going to give it a go next batch of scalloped potatoes, and if it functions as well as I suspect, I will use it more often than I used the slicing blades on previous processors. The previous processors were such a pain in the patoot to clean that I didn't pull them out just to slice a few veggies. There is a grater disc, which I might use in the future, but grating is not something I do in large volumes. This is my 4th Breville product, following a countertop airfryer/oven, a toaster, and a hand mixer. Each of those other products have also been well designed and performed flawlessly for several years. Breville products are more expensive, but I have found them to be worth the added cost because they work so incredibly well.If you use a food processor regularly, then look no further and buy this one. I think you will be very satisfied.

Pull the cord out, it's longer than you think.

When I first received this I thought the cord was ridiculously short. It was pushed inside the base and felt as though you were tearing it up to pull it. I finally worked it out of the base to a reasonable 3 feet or so. Seriously nice food processor. I just did a vegetable soup and used it to slice all the vegies. Very solid. Easy to assemble.

Very well built! Beats the newer cuisinart model!

Worth every penny. First, I ordered a new cuisinart after giving mine to my daughter. When the new one came I was shocked at the poor quality. Sent it back and ordered this beauty!!! If you want something that’s powerful, easy to use, and will last- this is the one! Just as great as my Breville Air Fryer/Bake Oven. You pay more, but worth it!

Powerfull processor

I purchased this to replace a 15 year old Cuisinart which was a real work horse in my kitchen. It needed a replacement part which was permanently unavailable. So it was time to retire the machine. I thought I would definitely get a Cuisinart but after reading the reviews and talking to a friend who owns a Breville, I decided to do a hands on comparison in a local store. What a difference in the solid feel of the Breville parts. The bowl was much thicker and appeared to have a better seal with a rubber gasket. Of course it is a pricer product but if it is a better, quieter machine it was worth a try.Fantastic, superior shredding and slicing over the Cuisinart and no issues with blending wet ingredients (no leakage!) I am very happy with my choice of the Breville 12 cup.One word of warning... Tell all of your dishwashing helpers DO NOT PUT THE LARGE PUSHER IN THE DISHWASHER!!! It will distort the plastic and will you will require a new one which has to be ordered (Amazon doesn't offer it)

Parts not dishwasher safe

This was touted as dishwasher safe, but the large pusher piece says not dishwasher safe right on it and the instructions say that the 12 cup top unit is better to hand wash but could be washed in the dishwasher top rack "occasionally." Well, it's too large (too tall) for the top rack of the dishwasher, and I have a deep top rack. The other problem is that the processor has a spindle which has to be inserted with the blade. It's two pieces inside each time you use this (see picture). The top of the spindle is metal and sharp (the bottom is plastic) and I cut myself when pulling it out to wash because I pulled it out from the top. You expect the blade (second piece) to be sharp but I wasn't expecting the spindle on top to be sharp. And who is going to remember to pull the spindle by holding the plastic part, not the top sharp part, or even see which part is sharp when it is covered with food remnants? I have not used the slicer and shredder attachments yet. So I can't comment on those. Had I not thrown the box out I would have returned it. I just tried it out to make sure it had power and then threw the box out. I was not focusing on the design initially. DO NOT BUY. I had a Cuisinart before and it is designed much better.
