If you have some delicate work to do, very small finish nails for me, it will do the trick. The handle feels good in the hand.

Exactly what I wanted
I have been looking for a warren style hammer. This is not the same as the real thing but close enough for what I want. I wanted this as a plane adjusting hammer in the vein of Paul Sellars. This fits the bill and I don't have to try to kype the end of an ebay listing or search all the antique stores. For what I want this for a hammer made in China is perfect. It will never see the abuse my other hammers do so as long as it doesn't just fall apart its perfect. About the hammer specifically, It has a hickory handle and for some reason mine has a cut in the side. No big deal as its only a shallow scrape but the finish is removed so there is that. The head is coated in a thick shiny epoxy like coating. I am not sure of the longevity of the coating if I hit metal but again its a hammer. The head appears epoxied in and is colored black to match the hammer so it looks seamless. Hope this helps anyone who needs it!

Save your fingers when tapping in brads
This hammer has a nice handle. The head is on the light side, but the cross peen is perfect for hammering small brads. The rounded point goes right between your thumb and index finger without pinching them against the head of the brad.

Rebounds nicely.It has been good for shaping brass and light metals.I wrapped and stitched boot leather around the handlejust under the head -- my invention of a "bumper" to protectthe handle from missing the head but hitting the handle.Don't ask me how I thought to invent that leather collarfor a hammer... 2nd one I've bought
Bought the 4 oz as a plane adjustment hammer. Balance is perfect. It was so good bought this 8 oz as a general bench hammer. Need to get the thick coating off of the steel and the handle. But I love these hammers.

Hammer’s surface chips off making a mess
No idea why the manufacturer decided to varnish the surface of the hammer head (except for the giant display of the CHINA on the side.) I got tired of the varnish chipping off all over my project so I decided to sand the surface down. Annoying but it works.
