In the spring of 1978, New Balance gave their designers the go-ahead on an ambitious undertaking: develop the very best running shoe, regardless of the time it takes or the money it costs. The result was the 990, a shoe that’s been raising the bar on quality ever since. With the 990v6, the legend continues. A perfect blend of cushioning and style, this shoe looks as good on your morning run as it does on the runway. New Balance MADE contains a domestic value of 70% or more. MADE makes up a limited portion of New Balance’s US sales.

Absolute Necessity for people with Plantar fasciitis
I'm almost 50 and I started getting to the point where I couldn't walk - of course, the doctor says "oh, it's just plantar fasciitis.." I say "of course" because for someone without the pain themselves, it seems like it's just a Dr. Scholl's insert that is a cure-all for it. I used one of those first, and while they alleviate the pain a bit, they don't actually *fix* the problem. I asked the Doctor to send me to a Podiatrist. The guy who I saw is quite esteemed, he's done groundbreaking work in the area of feet. But he told me "the only cure, outside of trying near-useless velcro attachment devices and leg braces, is to wear New Balance 990s all the time."Ok so silly me, I thought these were $50 shoes - but they aren't. That saying "you get what you pay for" applies here incredibly, at least for me. $200 bucks later on Amazon, and I'm expecting a miracle or I'm grumpy. The odd ending to this story is this: I'm not grumpy and I absolutely fell in love with the way these fit. I've worn many, many shoes in my lifetime (including Asics and lower-level New Balance shoes, along with Nikes etc) and there simply isn't any comparison.Like, ZERO.I have wide feet (Fred Flintsone feet) but after a couple of days of breaking them in, my plantar fasciitis not only started to fell MUCH better but in a month's time it went away. WOW. I had it for almost a year and I couldn't figure out how to fix it (nor could my primary care doctor). If you are struggling with the idea of whether these shoes are worth it here's the answer: THEY ARE. Yes, you may have to make sure you have the right size but once you do, I really doubt you'll ever buy another shoe type again.Last but not least, I bought mine 6 months ago and I wear them everywhere - even in the house - because they help my feet. So I've put many, many miles on them. They are nowhere near showing signs of wear - occasionally they'll get dusty if I'm out walking, but no wear.Made in the USA. I didn't even know that until after I bought them, but now it makes sense. Things of quality are built here (because) the companies who are headquartered here in the US don't have the mismatch of communication you'd naturally have making something overseas. I say this because most New Balance shoes are made in China, these are the only ones that I'm aware of made in the US. But the quality difference between the two - from the "other" New Balance shoes in their line to the 990s is black-and-white. If I were CEO of that company, I'd onshore their production of all lines.. they'd be the only manufacturer with quality shoes for everyone. In the meantime, I'm continuing to enjoy life with these without Plantar Fasciitis. I'm definitely a happy camper!

Better than their Predecessor!
The New Balance 990v6's are a much better alternative to the previous models! Better overall design and comfort! I previously purchased the New Balance 990v3's, 990v4's, and 990v5's. I have been an avid purchaser of the New Balance 990 models. The New Balance 990v6 is well worth your money! However, be aware to make sure you know what is the overall best size and width for your feet. Before purchasing any New Balance shoes. That is why New Balance offers different widths for their product. Overall, I recommend the New Balance 990v6's! It is a very comfortable shoe for overall walking through out the day, jogging, or exercising.

Comfortable, good support
This is my second pair of 990s after I finally wore the first pair out. New pair arrived early and fit perfectly (size 14). Pricy, but you get what you pay for and the 990v6 model is definitely worth the expense

Best shoe I've ever bought
The best running, walking, hiking shoe I have found. I have narrow feet and buying the narrow variation of this product has been a blessing. I walked over 6 miles daily throughout a 4 month vacation and never had sore feet or blisters..

Feels very different from previous version
It's still a decent shoe, but feels different than the v5. It seems narrower and also the heel and sole has changed and makes it feel less level when walking. It tends to feel more like it's tilting my feet inwards.

Happy to find a great made in USA shoe.
Been wearing Hoka for years. Wanted something made domestically. Was surprised NB had a made in USA line. So far, very comfortable and compare well with the Bondi 8. I wear 12 xx-wide and happy to find this shoe, tough size.Believe the upper with leather is a nice touch, and a good looking shoe.Hope they hold up.

good product
I have been walking in new sneakers for a month. Although I need width 2W, I ordered normal ones, because there was no width 2W.The first three workouts the left sneaker was a little tight, but then everything went away and now everything is great, the sneakers fit my foot exactly.I used NB 990 V4 before, and it seems to me that the sole on the V6 model is slightly tilted inward. And so - excellent shoes, a bit expensive, but the quality is excellent

good supportive sneakers are important
these are expensive. to me they're worth it. there are a lot of eyelets. there is one set on top for a heel lock. i used to wear sneakers for years and wear out the soles. amazon gives me reminders of what i've bought. so, i get them more often, i don't use them once they no longer give proper support. i now have blue and black. i'd buy a lighter blue if they had it. hey, they're cheaper than a bentley. i'd buy bentleys, ferraris in various colors, too, but, i'll take the money with me when i die.
