Good rack
Some here are having difficulty assembling this rack. I can’t think why. There’s even a picture to look at. Anyway here’s the review-It’s a good strong rack! Fitted nicely to my car (BMW 1 series) You do have to lift the boot to hang it on but unless you’re 2foot tall this shouldn’t be a problem. Easily assembled in less than 10 mins. Top marks from me

Good but things to consider
I saved load of money by buying it from Amazon warehouse deals. The product was in better condition than expected. 8 out of 10. It's not as easy to put on as the video and make sure the metal parts don't touch the paint as it will scratch it. But holds the bike great. Also to note, you need a light board as it will cover your licence plate and some of your lights. And if like my car (it does not have a tow bar with a 7 pin electric connection) you will have to invest in both.

Almost brilliant
I was after a simple system to carry the bikes. No straps, no hassle. The Thule system is brilliant. After the initial assembly and fitting, all that was needed was a 5 minute lesson for the family to clip on and off the system and they are now set to explore the myriad of cycleways in our area. The only annoyance is that the hooks that hold onto the car are not rubber coated as stated, or that bag of bits is missing. On a product of this quality (and price) this is silly. The Thule arrived timely and the packaging seems as modest/green in size as is possible. The manual follows the standard, picture x list of bits, followed by pictures and list of assembly instructions. On the whole it is simple to follow and the parts are well made and fit well. The only disappointment is in the actual fitting to the car. There are specific printed details for a range of cars. This could be enhanced by an online longer list. The Thule website is conspicuous not having a forum to facilitate this. The main niggle was that the rubber strips to cover the 4 car attachment hooks were missing from my box. On a product of this quality this was a mystery. Is it a quality control issue? Bottom line, very annoying on an otherwise splendid product and the reason for the dropped star.So intial impressions are that I have bought the best bike rack in the world. Quick & easy to fit, quality build, but with small fixable niggles, Thule needs a web forum and to fix missing parts.

Designed by IKEA rejects! Avoid!
Amazing product in several ways. First, it's amazing Thule has such a good reputation given how poorly this product has been designed. It is designed to be collapsible but in erected mode the rigidity of the entire construction depends on the user getting the torque exactly right on two long bolts that form the pivot between horizontal and vertical metal frame pieces. Too loose and you can't help feel it might collapse and too tight and it risks breaking the flimsy quarter turn plastic levers (as I did!) because in the correct position, the levers look completely wrong and weak. secondly, the lower grips are far too loose and you stand a strong chance of scratching the paintwork of the car trying to fit it. Why are they not more secure? (No prizes for guessing why they provide you with 'protective' clear plastic strips rather like sellotape for you car. Why not just design the thing a bit better? Thirdly, why should I add the protective rubber adhesive patches for the inside of the clamps? Thule should provide this fitted. It wouldn't cost much for them to do at manufacture. Fourthly, the most amazing thing about this product is how it has managed to attract so many good reviews! Comments such as 'easy to assemble' this is rubbish! It is awkward and appallingly designed, and trust me I'm pretty good at these things! 'Instructions clear' this is also complete rubbish. Think IKEA symbols and pictures but much, much worse. It even advises in picture format that 4nm (Neuton metres) be applied with the Allen key! When building the aforementioned flimsy plastic pivot. Really? Who has a torque wrench for such situations. How stupid. I can confidently say this is one of the worst products, badly designed and cheaply made that I have ever come across. This was my first Thule product, and will be my last.

Take care
It took my wife and I a couple of hours to put it together and the instructions could have been a lot better. Our car is a Skoda Octavia Estate 2014 and we mounted the carrier with a little difficulty as the replacement clip on hooks which we had also purchased, (part 911500) per the Thule website guidelines, were very tight. The major problem we had was in removing the carrier from the car. The clips were tight and we slightly raised the rear door to help and in doing so bulged the car's bodywork on the upper lip of the rear door. I have contacted Thule and they have sent me a claim form to get compensation for the cost of repairs. The carrier itself is well built and on the one occasion that we have used it the bike was carried very safely without any shaking about which I have experienced in the past with cheaper carriers.

Great Product
Fantastically designed product that has the security and stability you want. Access to the boot is invaluable and the bike is held on securely. The only possible improvement would be a better strap to secure the lower portion of the bike but it easily suffices. Fits like a glove on a 2007 polo.

should be much better
the product seems like the best solution, but unfortunately does not come with any supportive accessories for the glass doors. I had to go and find a Halford solution to secure the clip o( it is not a clip on anymore!) I would expect more from thule.
