DK Eyewitness Northern Spain (Travel Guide)

This is such a terrific book overall! It was just what I needed in planning my trip to northern Spain, and I referred to it often while I was there. However, it was a major dereliction of duty that the book fails to inform the reader of the ongoing restoration work at the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. This work started in 2014 and the book was revised and reprinted in 2017. This is vital information for many travelers to the area, who might choose to postpone their visit until the restoration is completed. For years the main facade was covered with scaffolding, and right now the interior is mostly inaccessible, and the Pilgrim's Mass moved to a different location. Shouldn't DK inform travelers of this major wrinkle?

Just returned from a 16 day trip through Northern Spain. The DK Guide was accurate and up to date. Since we were on an organized tour we didn't need the hotel recommendations, but the descriptions of the regions and the cities were up to date and useful for the "on your own time" during the tour. The maps were useful and accurate. Also, small enough to carry in a daypack and not heavy. Wish I would've bought one for Portugal where we went on the last 6 days of our tour.

This book provided the best information with map and photos about a visit to the unique part of Spain in the Basque country just south of the Pyrenees at the Atlantic Ocean. Well worth reading before and during my private tour.

I have been travelling and thus using travel guides for almost 20 years and was incredibly disappointed with this guide. In one spot it literally said there were a few churches worth checking out with no detail that would indicate which churches those might be or any logistical information. I would urge you to look elsewhere.

Eyewitness is most reliable with useful insights that aren't just touristy-touristyOut-of-the-way places to stay in the countryside would be useful

DK books are extremely well detailed, written, etc... the font/print very, very tiny.... you need a magnifying glass.>>> BUT perhaps its the only way they can pack in so much information... on different sites and all their history, maps, photographs.... need GOOD EYES though!!

Perfect gift for my friend traveling there this summer.
