Major League Baseball Presents 2016 World Series: Chicago Cubs

MLB put this disc out and an 8-disc set also. The 8-disc set was the pennant win and all the seven World Series games in their entirety, while this disc is more the story of the series, and player and fans' perspectives and reactions. I got the 8-disc set first and then this one. If you are a true fan, you'll want them both, as they were both great to watch.

I can't say how excited I was for this. A chance to rewatch the games with Pat & Ron, just like I did when it aired? Sign me up! However these games are presented with nothing but the action. Everything is cut out save for the at bats. There is no pregame ceremony or talk, the videos start as the first batter steps into the box with the commentary in mid-sentence, then it cuts away as soon as the third out is recorded, again with the commentary in mid sentence, only to repeat this process for the next half inning. Again and again, throughout the entire span of the games, you get to watch something that feels rushed, clipped, edited down to only the bare minimum. There is no immersive experience. It just trucks along as if it's just trying to get it over with. I'm very displeased with this.

What can be said? The Game 7. There can never be another that will measure up to it. Even my beloved Cubs cannot match the drama that occurred that night.The love hate relationship every true Cubs fan has had over the decades rose to epic heights that night. Never have I been through so many emotions in one evening. And this time, this time it came out good. This time, we were on the side celebrating. Even 6 months later it seems like a dream.This DVD series is a must for every Cubs fan. I especially like the option to listen to the radio broadcast while I watch, so that I don't have to listen to Joe Buck talk about his love affair with Kershaw (who most likely was golfing somewhere during the Series). Buy it. Treasure it. Love it.

Gotta have this if you're a Cubs fan! You get the regular telecast of every game of the 2016 Series, with Joe Buck and Smoltzie, as broadcast on the day of each game, as well as the Chicago radio broadcasters and the Cleveland guys on separate sound-tracks. Also includes the Game 6 of the NLCS telecast, with the broadcasting teams as above. Reasonably priced; quality of the DVD's is excellent (might go ahead myself and get the Blu-ray version!).

As a Cub fan since 1982, I had to get this so I could relive the glorious moments all over again. The video quality is excellent. The sound quality, however, was disappointing. I have home theater surround sound set-up, 7.1.2 I expected to be enveloped by the crowd sounds. Instead, most of the sounds came out of my front two speakers! It was like it was stereo, 2 channel sound! Rather disappointed in the sound quality. As far as the content, it includes the clinching NLCS game and all 7 world series games, and some post-game stuff. I was satisfied with the content. They skipped over the game 7 rain delay content, but I kind of expected that. Over-all satisfying purchase, just disappointed with the 2 channel sound quality.

These collectors' DVD editions keep becoming less and less. For example, the 2004 Red Sox edition had the World Series games plus all 7 ALCS games--important since that was the year of the great Sox comeback from 0-3, and I still enjoy watching the losing games as the setup for the comeback. There was also a bonus disc. By 2007, also a year with a reasonably exciting ALCS comeback, the collection had been trimmed to include the WS games plus only the 4 winning games from the ALCS plus a bonus disc. Fast forward to 2016, and this Cubs collection includes the WS games plus only the one final game of the NLCS. No bonus disc. The stats and facts that cover nearly every square inch of the discs & packaging of the earlier collections have been jettisoned. This 2016 collection is a bare-bones affair that seems to have been thrown together by people who don't really care about these things very much. We waited 108 years for this?

This movie would have been great if it wasn't for the pure silliness the writers went with in terms of story. So you want me to believe that the two teams with the longest championsip droughts in all of baseball make it to the World Series at the same time? And one of those two teams takes a 3-1 series lead and then there is a comeback to force a game seven? Then that game goes in to extra innings because of a miraculous comeback? Then there's a rain delay so the "Gods" have their say? Oh, let's not forget the guy that's been out the whole season comes back to help his team win?Completely unbelievable but I still give it five stars because the Cubs won.

Bought this for my husband - a die-hard Cub fan who has now watched his lifelong dream come true. For a true fan, this DVD doesn't edit anything, allowing my husband the joy of re-experiencing every hit, strike, whiff, twitch, scratch, spit, crowd reaction, manager eye-roll and announcing booth banter from Game 1 through Game 7! And he has...several times over!

Although the Bluray is Region 1 encoded, it comes with a Digital copy via VHX, which allows downloading in formats up to and including 1080p, which saved my bacon this morning!

Great to relive one of sport's biggest series ever. Will certainly watch this many, many times. Very recommended for all CUBS fans!
