Perfect solution to not always having a backup alarm
Works perfect when you have it plugged in and put the vehicle in reverse. Only thing I dislike and that is more about my truck is the fact it beeps as long as the reverse lights are on. So when you exit the vehicle it’s beeping and don’t stop until the lights go out.

A "No-brainer" economical add on for more light in the back
This is a cheap economical add on which plugs into the trailer hitch socket instantly. There is no wiring or extra installation required. The amount of light it provides is about 70% of the low beam on your halogen headlamps or about 500 lumens. 500 lumens is about twice the light. That is about 3 times the power of a Six Cell D Maglight which is plenty to illuminate the rear. In comparison to the regular backup lights on the vehicle which are 3156 bulbs on mine it seems 50% brighter. The reasons for getting this light are the following:- Extra light to load/unload- Emergency illumination of the rear if you are on the side of the road for better visibility to traffic- Backup light creates more visibility for you to see and alert other drivers/pedestrians- No hard installation. Plug and play. You absolutely cannot go wrong for $15. Other lighting solutions were over $100 and required hard installation. If you are looking for extreme backup lighting which is more powerful then the headlights of the vehicle then you will be paying a lot more and then comes the installation. There is a product on Amazon which includes two 55 watt halogen lights and they will be just as powerful as your headlights up front. However, that model is $80, its not a universal fit, there are extra relays needed and you need to install it by cutting wires, etc. Im not doing all that just to get a little extra light which I wont use.

Plug it in when needed.
The product puts out good lighting …but to leave it in is a problem. Two things I see. One, it fits the 7 way plug good but there’s no way to lock it in place. I think on a rough road, it would fall right out. Second thing is that leaving it in , it’s easy prey for thieves. If you do a lot of camping and pull a trailer, it is definitely something good to have on hand . I suggest store it in the glove box until u need it..

Well worth the money! - UPDATED - now junk - do not buy!
Bright light to back up with, and great when hooking up a trailer at night. Decent quality for the price - I don't expect it to last forever, but it is decent quality. I have purchased two of these for both of my trucks, and have had one for over a year with no problems in a cold, snowy, climate with lots of salt on the roads.***I have had three of these over the years. The first two were awesome. The one I just bought is pure JUNK. Lasted for a whole week of use before bulb burnt out - and the bulb is not replaceable. Read the new reviews, look elsewhere....

Update - Great accessory item
I am very impressed with this item for the price. I have a 2013 Ford F150 supercrew with the worst reverse lamps of any vehicle I have ever owned including Volkswagen beetles with 6 volt electrics. If you read the reviews there are various complaints regarding the wattage of the lamp or the quality of materials or etc. Today, this thing is less than $16 bucks Amazon Prime. What are people complaining about? Yea, Yea, it arrives broken go ahead and complain but that has nothing to do with the product itself.I doubt there is an easier way to improve your backup lighting than with this item. Yes, you can spend more and have better lighting but you will put forth much more effort. I just leave mine plugged in. If someone steals it, I will buy another or spend a bunch more on something that works even better and spend hours installing instead of minutes.Update: I've had this installed for over 2 months now. Some time ago, I was towing a trailer and needed to remove/install the light several times. This caused the back of the unit, held in by one set screw, to come loose. I put the unit back together but expect the unit has become weak so I will have to be more careful when removing. Note: tightening the set screw more only distorts the housing and could make it harder to remove/install. I sprayed some silicone on the light where it plugs into the vehicle and that helps ease removal. Next time I take it out, I will consider bedding the back of the light in epoxy for a permanent repair. I still believe this is a good value but agree the back of the housing is too weak. I still give it 5 stars for price, function and convenience.

Great replacement light
Due to a light conversion on my SUV, (they were turned into amber turn signals to be legal in Europe) the factory backing lights don't work anymore. This one light does a good job of giving me some light to use when backing at night. It isn't as good as what I had with the factory backing lights, but by itself, it does a respectable job. This was the most affordable solution to my problem, and was easy to install... simply plug it into the trailer wiring port and it is good to go....I have had this plugged in to my Jeep now for about 10 months straight, and it is still working great and is still in great shape. I'm glad I bought this.

fantastic!
For the price, this is a great little light. My 2011 F150 backup lights suck. Having the backup cam at night was useless on any unlit street. I didnt want to go crazy with adding a rear light. This sucker plugged up easy. Plus having the little switch to use the light when you are doing something behind the truck is cool. Now the packaging says to put it in only when you need it. B/c it is so cheap, i said forget that. I just took a zip tie and tied the light to the port cover and it stays in there all the time. I bought this last fall. After fall/winter and now spring, it is working just fine. If you need super bright for traveling the back woods, this wont do it. But for backing up and to get some sort of light, this thing works great.
