Q: can too much linseed oil be removed ?

Hi I used this strictly for dirt buildup. No idea as to if it would remove other oils underneath but it probably would. I used cotton balls and did a small section GENTLY rubbing each section at a time. Shocking how much build up was lifted. Product is really good... Hope this helps!

Q: Directions say after you use it, you should remove it using a cloth dampened with turpentine. Is this a necessary step or only if you see residue?

I believe they are saying you use turpentine to clean the product off the cloth, not to put it on the painting.

Q: Can I use this on a lithograph on canvas?

I have never tried the product on lithograph. On oil paintings it is tops, works great if you follow the instructions. I suggest you contact Grumbacher. SGN

People, read the instructions. It means to use turpentine on the rag you're using if you want to remove the product from the rag.
